How to create and use Klarna's virtual card at any store that accepts Visa.
The Klarna Ghost Card (also called One-Time Card) is a virtual Visa card that lets you use Klarna's Pay in 4 at ANY store that accepts Visa - even if they don't directly partner with Klarna.
💡 What is a Ghost Card?
A one-time use virtual Visa card number generated in the Klarna app. It works like a regular credit card but splits your purchase into 4 interest-free payments.
How to Create a Ghost Card
Open the Klarna App
Download the app from App Store or Google Play if you haven't already.
Tap "Create One-Time Card"
Find this option on the home screen or under the shopping section.
Enter Purchase Amount
Type in how much you plan to spend. This sets your card limit.
Get Your Virtual Card
Klarna generates a Visa card number, expiration date, and CVV.
Use at Checkout
Enter the card details at any store that accepts Visa. Pay in 4 applies automatically!
Where Can You Use the Ghost Card?
Anywhere Visa is accepted online, including:
- Amazon (for items not directly on Klarna)
- Airbnb
- Any online store accepting Visa
- Subscription services
- Food delivery apps
⚠️ Limitations
Ghost Cards are for ONE-TIME use only - they expire after the purchase or within 24 hours. Cannot be used for recurring subscriptions or in-store purchases. Some merchants may decline virtual cards.
Ghost Card Tips
- Create the card right before checkout (it expires in 24 hours)
- Set the amount slightly higher than your purchase to cover tax/shipping
- Screenshot the card details in case you need them again
- Check your Klarna app for the payment schedule after purchase
